MEMBERSHIP MEETING
February 19, 2008
CALL TO ORDER: President, Barbara Taylor, CIT called the meeting to order at 6:08 p.m. Location of the meeting was the City Diner. Secretary, Darlene Lee-Omana, was present.
INTRODUCTIONS: Five members present: one guest Jackie Ketchum
PROGRAM: Felipa Lopez Wilmot from the Area Agency
on Aging of the Coastal
MINUTES: The Minutes for January, 2008 were approved as written.
CORRESPONDENCE: Correspondence was read and none required action.
REPORTS OF
OFFICERS
PRESIDENT: President, Barbara Taylor CIT reported that:
VICE PRESIDENT: Vice President, Virginia Llanas reported the next business meeting will be held March 18, 2008 at City Diner. There is no program for March. The April 15, 2008 program will be Charlie Brite. His topic will be “Understanding Credit”.
TREASURER: Treasurer, Vickie Thompson submitted Treasurer’s Reports for January, 2008. Reports were approved and filed for audit.
Darlene Lee-Omana reported that the bill for Thompson Allstate Bingo is $ 561.80; however she had a check from the Loving Spoonful for supplies that had been credited to them for $ 799.15.

Professional
Education: Virginia Llanas reported that he speaker
for February will be.
Darlene Lee Omana will try to
find information on a program for Home Buyers with the
City.
Block
Kids: President,
Barbara Taylor reported that Block Kids was a big success. Thanks to everyone. Winners were First place: Jesse Anchondo,
Badges &
Identification:
Nothing at this
time.
Publicity: President, Barbara Taylor, CIT discussed publicity items
sent in and article on Block Kids.
Education: No
report
Recycle: Lisa
Huerta absent. More recyclables
were also collected to give to her Saturday.
CAD: President, Barbara Taylor, CIT reported
that deadline for student entry is 3-7-2008. Judges are line up and Sponsorships so
far are: CoastCon $300.00; Teal
Construction- $ 100.00;
Social: Nothing at
this time.
Roster:
Kim Wilburn, CCA absent. Roster is complete and
distributed.
Ways and
Means: Committee Chairman, Darlene Lee Omana suggested a large
rummage sale in the Spring. Get contractors and suppliers to donate
old merchandise that is not moving or is outdated. Start working on your suppliers now. Kim
Wilburn is going to check with Gayle at the AGC and see about a potential
partnership on the Spring Sale with them.
Everyone start cleaning out those closets and get ready for spring. Members discussed tabling of making
watches to sell at Convention.

Trash
Off: Lisa Huerta
sent instructions to meet at 8:00 am on March 22, 2008 to collect
trash.
WIC Week:
The Ark Assessment Center and
Emergency Shelter for Youth used playground equipment installation is on hold
until we find out if there is a way to buy new bolts and screws and an
instruction book on how to put it together. Manufacturer is Done Right Playgrounds
and Barbara is going to contact them to get imformation.
Darlene Lee Omana is in
charge of the project for The Ark Drug Recovery for Women. We won’t get started on this until the
other two projects have been taken care of.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: President, Barbara Taylor, CIT announced that her and Darlene Lee-Omana had been judges for 18 students at Central Park Elementary School’s Spelling Bee on February 6, 2008.
The budget has been corrected.
Skills
President, Barbara Taylor, CIT and Darlene Lee Omana, CCA, CIT, CCRRC attended the Texas A & M Awards Dinner. Barbara read a letter from the girl that was awarded our scholarship.
ABC is have Casino Night on March 1, 2008 at King’s Crossing. Tickets are $75.00 each.
The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary has a scholarship is you know anyone that is interested, contact Barbara for information.
NEW BUSINESS: President, Barbara Taylor, CIT reported:
The Forum committee is requesting any pictures we might have from the past. They want them scanned and e-mailed by March 28, 2008. Contact her for e-mail address.
Vickie Thompson made a motion that Lisa Huerta be our delegate for Forum. Virginia Llanes seconded. Motion carried. Vickie Thompson and Lisa Huerta plan to go to Forum.
Habitat for Humanity wanted a joint venture with us on their project. Barbara will let the know that we have too much at this time and maybe they could contact us after our spring projects.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Congratulations to Bruce Birmingham with Western Steel for winning the 2007 President’s Award from the AGC.
ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to come before the assembly, the meeting was adjourned at 8:46 p.m.
