CORPUS CHRISTI CHAPTER # 4

MEMBERSHIP MEETING

February 17, 2009

CALL TO ORDER: President Darlene Omana CCA, CIT called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. with seven members, five guests and one speaker present. A quorum was established. Location of the meeting was the City Diner Restaurant. Secretary, Vickie Thompson, was present.

 

INTRODUCTIONS:Self Introductions were made.

 

PROGRAM: Home Depot did a presentation on floor installation.

 

MINUTES: The January Minutes were approved via the internet.

CORRESPONDENCE:No correspondence required action.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS:

 

PRESIDENT: President Darlene Omana CCA, CIT asked for the Committee Chairs to give her their reports for her Annual Forum Report.

 

President Darlene Omana CCA, CIT said to be thinking about being an Officer for next year. Next month is when the Nominating Committee will be announced.

 

President Darlene Omana CCA, CIT also said to remember to change the NAWIC Chapter address to her PO Box since we are getting away for the chapter PO box.

 

The NAWIC Chapter #4 new address is PO BOX 4597, Corpus Christi, TX, 78469

 

 

VICE PRESIDENT: Barbara Taylor CIT reported that the March 17th meeting will be NAWIC 101 presented by Cathy Beaudin CCA, CIT

 

TREASURER: Virginia Llanas presented the January treasurerís report. They were approved as printed.

 

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

Membership: Cathy Beaudin CCA, CIT reported for that she would like to get a membership brochure to mail out to prospective guests.

 

Construction Professional and Education:

CAD: Barbara Taylor CIT reported that there are 5 students from Bruni TX and 8 students from Carroll participating. Bria Whitmire got six judges. Barbara Taylor CIT also said we need to start getting the scholarship award money of $ 1050.00.

 

BLOCK KIDS: Barbara Taylor CIT reported that we had 23 students participate in Block Kids. The first place student was Jacquelyn Mendoza and she built a bulldozer complete with removable windshield so the operator can climb into his seat.

 

She also wanted to THANK everyone that helped out. We also need to start getting stuff for the goody bags for next year.

 

Community in Schools: Barbara Taylor CIT reported that their Evening of Love held February 13 raised a lot of donations.

 

April 15, 2009 go to Chiliís and mark on the bottom of the bill with CIS and Chiliís will donate 10% to CIS for kids who canít afford cap & gowns for graduation.

 

April 24 they will have a casino night. Member gave tissue boxes, toilet paper rolls and shoe boxes for their summer project.

 

They would like Darlene Omana CCA, CIT give them a complete bid on the roof. They will have a meeting on Friday 2-20-09

 

Construction Project: Barbara Taylor CIT reported us and the AGC masonry class would do the wall around 3 sides of 84í x 16í at the ARK. David Sisk and Sid Smith are donating the material.

 

Publicity: Barbara Taylor CIT, discussed publicity items sent out. She said there was a good article in the CC Caller Times on Block Kids out January 26, 2009.

 

WIC Week: Barbara Taylor CIT said that because of Kim Keplarís schedule we will begin 9:00 am March 7 at Kimís office and then present it to them for the Cattle Baronís fundraiser.†††

 

Ways and Means: Virginia Llanas said we netted $ 20.00 for our Birthday Raffle.

 

Unfinished Business: Barbara Taylor CIT said that Bold Future is having a Vision Summit February 28, 2009 at the American Bank Center.

 

NEW BUSINESS: Virginia Llanas made a motion to make President Darlene Omana CCA, CIT our delegate to Annual Forum

April 24-25, 2009. Lisa Huerta Seconded. Motion carried.

 

Barbara Taylor CIT said Skills USA will be April 1 -4, 2009 and they need judges.

 

Virginia Llanas reported that Valero and Workforce will be holding an IGROW Camp for 8th and 9th grade girls. She asked if NAWIC would help. We all agreed.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Barbara Taylor CIT congratulated Virginia Llanas for Valeroís award from the Texas Workforce.

 

ADJOURNMENT:There being no further business to come before the assembly, the meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
