NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION
January 19, 2010
CALL TO ORDER: President Darlene Omana CCA, CIT called the meeting to order at
6:05 p.m. with five members. A quorum was established. Location of the meeting was the City Diner Restaurant. Acting Secretary, Vickie Thompson, was present.
INTRODUCTIONS: Self Introductions were made.
MINUTES: The November Minutes were tabled till February.
CORRESPONDENCE: No correspondence required action.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS:
PRESIDET: President Darlene Omana CCA, CIT reported that we should send in our $5.00 per member to the Region 7 Fund.
VICE PRESIDENT: Barbara Taylor CIT reported that the February 16th meeting will be Dr. Suzette Chopin with Texas A & M CC on Prevention of Memory Loss.
TREASURER: Virginia Llanas presented the November treasurer’s report. She also sent in our IRS compliance in at the end of December. They were approved as presented.
We made $13.00 on the birthday raffle.
Construction Professional and Education:
BLOCK KIDS: Barbara Taylor CIT reported that we have 34 students signed up. She asked for us to be there at 8:00 am January 30, 2010.She also reported that Lisa Huerta got us BOB”S from Whataburger.
CAD: Barbara Taylor CIT reported that we have 13 students participating from Bruni, Carroll, and Tuloso Midway High Schools. We have one student doing it for a third time and five doing it a seconded time. We need to get judges by March 22, 2010.
Barbara Taylor CIT also reported that she would not be able to do the Regional CAD Report at Forum in Frisco TX. Vickie Thompson said she would do it for her.
Texas A & M Endowment: Barbara Taylor CIT reported that on February 27 is a President Recognition dinner for the Scholarships. President Darlene Omana CCA, CIT will check into it.
SALVATION ARMY: Barbara Taylor CIT reported that on December 2, 2009 President Darlene Omana CCA, CIT, Cathy Beaudin CCA, CIT, Virginia Llanas, and she dropped off 5 1/2
boxes of books (Over 500).
Barbara Taylor CIT noticed that they need VCR’s so she asked the chapter to collect them for them.
Barbara Taylor CIT reported that on December 8, 2009 President Darlene Omana CCA, CIT, Cathy Beaudin CCA, CIT, Virginia Llanas, Lisa Huerta and herself rang the bell and worked at the Angel Tree table in La Palmera Mall
Barbara Taylor CIT reported that they are also looking for Career Work clothes for men and Women. Virginia Llanas said she would ask the people at Valero.
Construction Project: Barbara Taylor CIT reported that Cheryl Adame would like us to partner with them on fixing a walking trail at the Art center on Agnes Street. She will check to see what weekend in April they will work. We can’t on the first weekend because that is Forum.
Publicity: Barbara Taylor CIT, discussed publicity items sent out and also on the book drive for the Salvation Army.
Bold Future: Barbara Taylor CIT reported that they sent out a presentation book and NAWIC is in it. She has a copy if anyone is interested to look at it.
MEMBERSHIP: Cathy Beaudin CCA, CIT will contact the lady at Beecroft. Barbara
UNFINISHED BUSSINESS: Lisa Huerta will set us up to get Office Depot Rewards when we recycle our ink cartridges. We can drop off 5 a day for $3.00 ea. Here are the days members will drop them off-

NEF: Barbara Taylor CIT reported that Lisa Huerta has her book for Book keeping 101.
Kim Wilburn CCA will be monitor. The cost to take it is $ 200.70 for the book and test.
