CORPUS CHRISTI CHAPTER # 4

MEMBERSHIP MEETING

January 15, 2008

 

 

CALL TO ORDER:  President, Barbara Taylor, CIT called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Location of the meeting was the City Diner.  Secretary, Darlene Lee-Omana, was present.

 

INTRODUCTIONS:  Seven members present

 

PROGRAM:   None

 

MINUTES:    The Minutes for November, 07 were approved as written.

 

CORRESPONDENCE:  Correspondence was read and none required action.

 

REPORTS OF OFFICERS

 

PRESIDENT:  President, Barbara Taylor CIT reported that:

  1. Tax Return was completed by Kim Wilburn, CCA and has been filed.
  2. Thanks to Celina for a great Christmas Party.
  3. WIC Week posters are available for anyone that wants one.
  4. Anyone that has a nomination for the Crystal Vision Award contact Barbara.
  5. Texas A & M awards dinner on January 30, 2007 will be attended by

VICE PRESIDENT:  Vice President, Virginia Llanas reported the next business meeting will be held February 19, 2008 at City Diner.

 

 

TREASURER:  Treasurer, Vickie Thompson submitted Treasurer’s Reports for October, November and December, 2007.  Reports were approved and filed for audit.

She submitted bills that were submitted for payment by Barbara Taylor, CIT that needed approval.  2006 Block Kids 255.79:  Misc. $ 1.72 and Construction Industry- $ 8.21 Payment for bills was approved.  Darlene Lee-Omana reported that there will be some Bingo bills from Thompson Allstate Bingo and will report amounts in February.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS: 

 

Membership:  Lisa Huerta was absent.  Barbara Taylor, CIT showed the members a Certificate of Achievement Certificate the Region presented to Lisa Huerta.  She will forward to her.  Mary Castille, Bettie Wetherbee, Myra Morris and Celina Romay have not renewed their membership.  Celina will renew, but her Father is very ill and she stays with him 24/7.

Vickie Thompson reported that membership pins cost $28.95 each.  She had numeral guards for membership pins that chapter used in past.  Decision on what to do with the guards will be decided later.  Barbara Taylor, CIT also reported that Chere Large was no longer with Gulf Coast Nut and Bolt Supply and that she never joined our chapter. She will try to locate her.

Professional Education:  Virginia Llanas had nothing to report at this time.

Block Kids: President, Barbara Taylor reported that she had everything ready for Block Kids on January 19, 2008.  Judges are Jackie Ketchum, Bob Beaudin, Danny Huerta, Christine Lyle, Byron Weber, and Hector Quintanilla.  Chick Fil-a has offered to furnish breakfast and Virginia will pick up at 8:00.  All members should try to get to Prescott School at 8:30 to help set up.  .

Badges & Identification:  Nothing at this time.

Publicity:  President, Barbara Taylor, CIT discussed publicity items sent in.

Education:  No report

Recycle:  Lisa Huerta absent.  More recyclables were also collected to give to her Saturday.

CAD:  President, Barbara Taylor, CIT reported that we still need judges. Judges so far are:

Tom Gentry- Teal Construction, John Reyes and Rubin Molina with Gignac Landscape.  She is still waiting to hear from Mary Castille with Whatbutger and Todd Brendalan with La Marr Womack & Assoc.  We have 15 students signed up.  Six from Bruni, three from King and seven from Carroll High School.

Social:  Nothing at this time.

Roster: Kim Wilburn, CCA passed out the new roster.

Ways and Means:  Committee Chairman, Darlene Lee Omana suggested a large rummage sale in the Spring.  Get contractors and suppliers to donate old merchandise that is not moving or is outdated.  Start working on your suppliers now.  Celina was going to check on her parent’s business location but was not at the meeting.  Barbara has a friend with a business on SPID that she will check on and Kim Wilburn was going to check with Gail at the AGC and see about a potential partnership on the Spring Sale with them.  Everyone start cleaning out those closets and get ready for spring.  She said that a golf tournament was not a good thing at this time.  Members discussed a possibility of making watches to sell at Convention.  Virginia is going to do a practice run on one to see how hard they will be to make.  We also discussed rear-view mirror hangers.  Kim Keplar could not get interest in a Poker Run, but submitted an idea for partnering with Ambit Energy and get a commission on anyone that we sign up to change their electrical service.  Cost to start is 99$ per year for the program.  We gain $4.00 each month for each customer.  That means we break even if we sign two customers for one year.

Communication:  No Report

Friendship:  No Report.

Website: Vickie Thompson said that she could set up to see chapter sales on website.  Stone and Glazing Consulting may want to advertise on the website.  She gave the information to Darlene to check it out.

Trash Off: Lisa Huerta reported the eight bags of trash were collected on January 12, 2008.

WIC Week:   Prescott School Nurse’s Station needs paint a bench with drawers and work station for computer.  Kim Keplar presented membership with a material list for everyone to work on getting donated.  This will be our first project.

The Ark Assessment Center and Emergency Shelter for Youth used playground equipment installation is on hold until we find out if there is a way to buy new bolts and screws and an instruction book on how to put it together..

Darlene Lee Omana had e-mailed everyone the list for The Ark Drug Recovery for Women.  If we don’t get the information on the Playground Equipment, we will get started on this project next. 

 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:  President, Barbara Taylor, CIT, and Virginia Llanes showed the presentation for the Education Service Center they had for presented on November 30, 2007.  She asked that all members get their list of volunteer judges for the Skills USA competition to her so she can present to them.

The Budget was corrected and approved as corrected.

Vickie Thompson gave a report on APC. 

Barbara Taylor, CIT reported on Salvation Army and Craft Training Center.  She reported that she was a judge for the Science Fair at Central Park Elementary and discussed the winners.

 

NEW BUSINESS:  President, Barbara Taylor, CIT reported:

Judy DeWeese contacted her and they need volunteers to help with parking for Sand Fest in Port Aransas.  Anyone interested, contact Barbara.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:  Celina Romay’s father is very ill.

 

ADJOURNMENT:  There being no further business to come before the assembly, the meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
