CORPUS CHRISTI CHAPTER # 4

MEMBERSHIP MEETING

October 16, 2007

CALL TO ORDER: President, Barbara Taylor, CIT called the meeting to order at 5:50 p.m. Location of the meeting was the City Diner. Secretary, Darlene Lee-Omana, was present.

INTRODUCTIONS: Self Introductions were made.

PROGRAM: Jim Hobbs with the Corpus Christi Medical Center gave a program on Chest Pain and Guest Pat Conner gave a short program on Skills USA competition.

MINUTES: The Minutes for September 18, 2007 were approved as written.

CORRESPONDENCE: Correspondence was read and none required action.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS

PRESIDENT: President, Barbara Taylor CIT reminded that APC was November 10, 2007. She also announced an Audit Committee meeting Monday 10-22-2007 after work at Barcom’s office. Reminder- annual dues must be postmarked by 10-31-2007.

VICE PRESIDENT: Vice President, Virginia Llanas reported that the next meeting will be held November 20, 2007 at City Diner. She will try to get Chere Large as a program speaker.

TREASURER: Treasurer, Vickie Thompson handed out the Treasurers Report. They were approved as written. Included with the Treasurer’s Report was a year end budget report. She is going to check on prices of the NAWIC membership pins.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Professional Education: Virginia Llanas reported that she will get motivational speaker Chere Large for the November meeting.

Membership: Membership Chair, Lisa Huerta reported on potential members. She also reported that membership renewal fees are due.

Block Kids: President, Barbara Taylor stated that CBS and Vickie Thompson donated items for the goody bags, but items are still needed for the goody bags and more Legos are needed. She is going to purchase some from E-Bay. She also reported that Brenda Garcia from Prescott Elementary will host our Block Kids competition again on January 19, 2008. She asked members to help her line up judges.

Badges & Identification: Christine Lyle resigned and Vickie Thompson was appointed new Chairperson.

Publicity: President, Barbara Taylor, CIT discussed publicity items sent in.

Recycle: Lisa Huerta reported that a deposit of $20.20 was made. More recyclables were also collected.

CAD: President, Barbara Taylor, CIT reported that the project design was a Dentist Office and she had submitted letters to several High Schools for participation.

Ways and Means: Committee Chairman, Darlene Lee Omana asked for any ideas for the next fundraising project. Guest Kim Keplar will follow up on possible interest from motorcycle clubs for a “Poker Run” for next month. Vickie Thompson suggested a golf tournament. Darlene will ask other chapters for advice.

Website: Vickie Thompson reported that the website is updated. One prospective member came from website.

Trash Off: Vickie Thompson reported the next clean up will be on November 17, 2007: 9:00 am.

WIC Week: President, Barbara Taylor, CIT asked members to find someone in need for our next project. Celina Romay was going to contact The Ark.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: President, Barbara Taylor, CIT reported that we will speak to a group of principals and counselors on unconventional jobs for women in construction at an ESC conference. President, Barbara Taylor, CIT, Virginia Llanas and Kim Keplar are working on the presentation for the Education Service Center on November 30, 2007 at 10:00 and 1:00.

NEW BUSINESS: President, Barbara Taylor, CIT asked about chapter sales for APC.

She asked each member to get five judges for the Skills USA competition to be held April 3,4, and 5, 2008. Our chapter will participate this year.

Darlene Lee Omana presented an application from the BPW Leadership Course to be held October 27, 2007 on Managing people, projects and yourself.

ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to come before the assembly, the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
