NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION
October 20, 2009
CALL TO ORDER: President Darlene Omana CCA, CIT called the meeting to order at
6:00 p.m. with five members and one speaker present. A quorum was established. Location of the meeting was the City Diner Restaurant. Acting Secretary, Vickie Thompson, was present.
INTRODUCTIONS: Self Introductions were made.
PROGRAM: Greg Perks of The Perkes Law Firm presenting Will and the importance of the Medical Power of Attorney.
MINUTES: The November Minutes were approved as presented.
CORRESPONDENCE: No correspondence required action.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS:
PRESIDET: President Darlene Omana CCA, CIT said Kim Wilburn will do the roster and all members are on the ways and means Committee.
VICE PRESIDENT: Barbara Taylor CIT reported that the November 17th meeting will be the Bob Teltschik on Spohn Home Care. She reported that she will start getting a speaker every other month.
Virginia Llanas presented the November treasurer’s report.
They were approved as presented. We made $10.00 on the birthday raffle.
Construction Professional and Education:
BLOCK KIDS: Barbara Taylor CIT reported that it will be held at Prescott Elementary on
January 30, 2010.She reported that her sister found 18 hard hats for $1.00 and she donated them to us. She said we need to start collecting items for our goody bags.
Tennis Success: Barbara Taylor CIT reported that Ronald dropped the plans for the kitchen. The project is too much for us to do so we will decline.
Bold Future: Barbara Taylor CIT reported that they will meet every other Monday till the end of June.
Texas A & M Endowment: Barbara Taylor CIT reported that Chelsea Brown got our scholarship. She is from a single parent family with two sisters. She is the first to graduate high school and go on to college. She wants to be s teacher.
Prescott Career Days: Barbara Taylor CIT and Virginia Llanas
will be there to present NAWIC November 10,2009.
Construction Project: Virginia Llanas and President Darlene Omana CCA, CIT
will check on the patio at the YWCA.
Publicity: Barbara Taylor CIT, discussed publicity items sent out.
Safety: Virginia Llanas reported that the Adult CPR and First Aid Class held October 10, 2009 had 3 members (Vickie Thompson, Lisa Huerta, and Virginia Llanas)
and 7 guests attend. The chapter mad $ 280.00.
fRIENSHIP: Vickie Thompson reported that she sent out thank you cards to Ben Santos with Engineering Safety Consultants and Dr. Anne Matula with Craft Training Center. for their help in out Adult CPR and Safety Class.
Vickie Thompson reported that she sent information to Sandy Kuchler and
Veronica Martinez. Vickie Thompson and Cathy Beaudin CCA, CIT will meet
November 1, 2009 to work on the membership packets.
NEW Business: Barbara Taylor CIT and Virginia Llanas toured the Salvation Army September 22, 2009. While there, they noticed that children’s library was close to empty. The chapter decided to hold a book drive and place a label that has our logo and says “From your friends: National Association of Women in Construction” on each book. We are to bring the books to the November meeting.
Since we will not have a meeting in December we decide to go to the Mall and help the Salvation Army out at their Angel Tree and also ring the bell. We decided on December 8, 2009 from %:15 to 8:00 pm in the La Palmera Mall.
ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to come before the assembly, the meeting was adjourned at 8:22 p.m.
